Monkfish Curry Recipe: Perfect With a Film

If you had a bit of a hectic weekend and want next weekend to be a bit more chilled, we have an amazing curry for you to try, perfect for a night in with your favourite Indian film. This is a recipe from our new menu, so come and pay us a visit to see what else we have to offer!

Monkfish Curry


  • Monkfish fillet x 8 pieces (250g)
  • Red pepper x 1
  • Green pepper x 1
  • Mustard seeds x 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves x12
  • Oil ¼ cup
  • Spring onions x 2
  • Dried red chilli x2
  • Garlic x 3 cloves
  • A pinch of salt

For the monkfish marinade

  • Turmeric x 1 tsp
  • Mustard oil x 3 tbsp
  • Ginger x 1 tsp
  • Garlic x 1 tsp
  • A pinch of salt


  • Get the monkfish and place in a mixing bowl, adding the mustard oil, turmeric, ginger, garlic, and salt and mix in to the fish. Let the mixture marinade the fish for 1 hour
  • Dice up the red and green peppers into small cubes
  • Chop the spring onions
  • In a wok, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. Once they pop, add the monkfish pieces
  • After a couple of minutes add the peppers and the curry leaves
  • Fry for about another minute then add the garlic cloves, spring onions and the dried red chillies
  • Fry all for about 2 minutes, remove from heat and serve immediately
